Hi! This is a bit beyond my area of expertise but my understanding is that there the two companies are completely separate. I think ASML was chosen as the name originally as ASMI was better known to possible customers and wasn't a competitor (through Elcoma). ASMI would provide marketing but the tech was always sourced from Philips and Natlab in particular.
